Thomas R. Pickering
American diplomat
Thomas Reeve "Tom" Pickering (born November 5, 1931) is an American politician and writer. He was the 18th U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 1989 to 1992.[1] He was born in Orange, New Jersey.

Pickering worked during the presidencies of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
Pickering was the U.S. Ambassador to India, El Salvador, Israel, Jordan, Nigeria and Russia during his 27 year diplomatic career.
