The Tale of the Heike (平家物語, Heike Monogatari) is an epic account of the struggle between two rival clans at the end of the 12th century.[1] In the title of this work, the Heike (平家) is one of several ways to describe the Taira (平) clan.[2]
This conflict is also known in the Genpei War (1150-1185).[3]
