The game was released on November 18, 2001 in North America and on May 3, 2002 in Europe. It was only released for the Nintendo GameCube.[2][3]

The game's setting is during the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance war. In the game, the player plays as Luke Skywalker and they try to shoot down and destroy enemies, with the end goal being to try and blow up the Death Star.

It is the sequel to the 1998 game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. A sequel was released titled Rebel Strike on October 21, 2003.

Reception

The game was very well liked by game critics. Critics said that they liked the visuals, sounds, action, and immersion.[4][5][6][7][8] However, they also said that they were disappoint that there was no multiplayer mode.[9]

When it was released as a GameCube launch title, it became the most selling Star Wars game by LucasArts.[10] It became the first first third-party game to hit become number one on the charts when it along with the GameCube were released in the United Kingdom six months later.[11]
