J. Frederick Grassle
American oceanographer and academic
John Frederick Matthews Grassle (July 14, 1939 – July 6, 2018) was an American marine biologist, oceanographer, professor, and research scientist. He was known for his work on the creation of the Census of Marine Life and the first marine biological data on a global scale, the Ocean Biogeographic Information System.
