Frances Bavier
American stage and television actress (1902-1989)
Frances Elizabeth Bavier (December 14, 1902 – December 6, 1989) was an American actress. She played Aunt Bee in the sitcom television series The Andy Griffith Show. She played the same character in the sequel series Mayberry, R. F. D.. Bavier won two Emmy Awards. She retired from acting and moved to Siler City, North Carolina. She is buried there.

Early life and career
Born in New York City, Bavier originally planned to become a teacher after attending Columbia University. She first appeared in vaudeville, later moving to the Broadway stage.[1]She also appeared in an episode of the Alfred Hitchcock TV show entitled “Revenge”
