Prima expeditio sacra fuit bellum anno 1095 ab Urbano II Papa motum, qui Alexium I, imperatorem Imperii Byzantini, adiuvando speravit duas ecclesias apostolicas reconciliatum iri. Eadem expeditione etiam speravit Hierosolyma a Musulmanis liberatum iri, qui Antiochia capta ea anno 1071 expugnaverant.
