Oliver Wendell Holmes (natus die 29 Augusti 1809 Cantabrigiae civitatis Massachusettae; die 7 Octobris 1894 Bostoniae mortuus), Anglice Sr. agnominatus ut a filio homonymo distinguetur, medicus et scriptor, in grege "poëtarum focalium" numeratur. Res medicas professus est apud Collegium Dartmuthense moxque apud scholam medicam Universitatis Harvardianis, cui scholae decanus meruit ab anno 1847 usque ad 1853.
