Hello! I'm Ifly6. Your recent edit(s) to the page Cato the Younger appear to have added incorrect information, so they have been reverted for now. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The Cato referred to in the portion that you edited is Cato the Elder, who was consul in 195 BC and the novus homo; see MRR 1.339, Livy 33.43.5, Val. Max. 4.3.11, Plut. Cat. Maj. 10–11, etc. Cato the Younger (Uticensis) is a member of the nobiles and was the person who never held the consulship. Moreover, (1) nobody is elected to the senate and (2) a novus homo is definitionally a person who is from a family without a consular ancestor, which makes your edit internally contradictory. Cf Brunt (1982) 72 JRS 1 but see refutation at Burckhardt (1990) 39 Historia 77. Ifly6 (talk) 15:59, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
