This represents a good start, but it would benefit from the inclusion of a larger number of specific examples, including references to depictions of Maya belt plaques in other media (paintings on ceramics, carvings on stelae, etc. It would also be good to put these objects in chronological context, especially since most of them are known from the Early Classic period (although depictions on stelae suggest they were used as early as the Late Preclassic period). There are some good Late Classic examples on carved stelae from Copan, for example. Others are found in depictions of rulers from Tikal. Please clean up the reference section with complete bibliographic entries in a correct Wikipedia style. Hoopes (talk) 22:59, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
