Elijah Chinezim Onyeagba

Elijah Chinezim Onyeagba (born on September 2, 1977). is a Nigerian economist, banker and politician who has served as the Federal Ambassador of Nigeria to the Republic of Burundi since 2021. [1]

Early Life and Family

Onyeagba hails from Awovu village, Enugwu Ukwu in Anambra state from the family of late Apostle Raphael and Mabel Onyeagba. [1]

Education

Onyeagba graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Enugu State, with a BA in Economics. He has earned several other degrees, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar, a Masters in Applied Economics from the American University, and a PhD in Economics (Public Policy) from the PAN-Atlantic University. Occupation

Prior to his appointment, he worked in many financial institutions in Nigeria including Equatorial Trust Bank (now Sterling Bank Plc), Bond Bank (now Skye Bank) and Platinum Bank (now Keystone Bank). He also served as the Head of the Real Estate Business Unit at Aso Savings & Loans Plc, one of Nigeria's leading mortgage banks based in the federal capital of Nigeria before moving to the Nigeria Securities, Printing and Minting Plc, a branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria in as Head of Business (Marketing & Sales), Northern Operations. Politics

Onyeagba is a member of the APC (APC) under which he ran for the Federal House of Representatives in Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal constituencies in Anambra state in the 2019 general election, which was won by the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Subsequently, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him as the ambassador of Nigeria to the Republic of Burundi in 2021 after his nomination was approved by the Nigerian Senate. [3]
