The WikiCup is a championship that has taken place every year on Wikipedia since 2007. The Cup is played and won by skill of editing. The purpose of the Cup is to encourage content creation and improvement and make editing on Wikipedia more fun.

The 2024 WikiCup began on 1 January 2024 and signups closed on 31 January 2024. If you are interested in following the WikiCup but do not wish to take part, please add your name to Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. All contestants will have their name added automatically.

The timetable for the contest is as follows (please note that points are reset to zero after the end of each round):

  • January 1 to February 27 – We start with one group of all contestants, with the top 64 from that group progressing. Contestants with zero points will not progress.
  • March 1 to April 28 – 64 contestants left, with the top 32 progressing.
  • May 1 to June 28 – 32 contestants left, with the top 16 progressing.
  • July 1 to August 29 – 16 contestants left, with the top 8 progressing.
  • September 1 to October 31 – 8 finalists left; the contestant with the highest score will win!

For contest results from previous years, please see 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. For records that have been set by contestants, see this list.

For the full rules clarifying what points can be awarded for, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. However, the spirit of the rules is more important than the letter, and the judges reserve the right to deny points to anyone deemed to be abusing the system, as well as remove persistently problematic users from the competition. If you believe one of the contestants is abusing the spirit of the rules, intentionally submitting subpar articles with the aim of getting more WikiCup points, or anything similar, please contact one or more of the judges. They will look into the matter and take action if necessary. The judges for the WikiCup are Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), and Frostly (talk · contribs · email).
