I am currently working at the City University of New York Graduate Center's New Media Lab developing a digital humanities undergraduate course that will incorporate Wikipedia writing/research assignments. The course blends online collaborative commenting with "live" weekly seminar discussions and will ultimately include multiple international cohorts collaborating simultaneously on a common wiki from distant academic enclaves around the English-speaking world.
I'm an Instruction / Reference Librarian at the College of Staten Island Library, City University of New York. I provide research assistance to students, faculty, and staff of the College. I also teach in the Library Instruction program and provide formal instructional sessions to undergraduate and graduate students to support their courses at the College.
My research interests include library promotion and outreach in academic libraries. As well, I am interested in user experience studies, in particular library jargon on library web sites. I am an avid Wikipedia user as I use it (and Google) for finding any kind of information. In the classroom I promote it as a great tool to start any kind of research. I do STRESS to students to always look for cited references to make sure that the information is verifiable.

My name is Michael Chen, and I'm a campus ambassador to Harvard University. I've long used Wikipedia and made minor edits, but have only recently started to contribute more significantly. I am a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador at Louisiana State University. My course will be participating in the U.S. Public Policy Project during the Spring 2011 Semester. Students enrolled in ISDS 4120 - Data Communications will be working on improving and adding articles for computer networking. I have experience with Visual Studio .NET, ToolBook and many other software applications. I currently program strategic planning tools to support consulting operations and teach strategic planning concepts to global companies. Before that, I was a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for 23 years with experience in major felony fraud and criminal investigations; and counterintelligence investigations and operations.
I'm delighted to serve as a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador. Among other endeavors, the MSU WCA team is working with Writing 101 students to integrate neutral, verifiable writing into their coursework, and ultimately contribute this content to Wikipedia. Thus far, we have helped students expand approximately 50 stubs and create content for 3 new articles. We hope to double those numbers in the Spring 2012 semester.

Laura Cruz is an Associate Professor of History and currently serves as the Director of the Coulter Faculty Commons at Western Carolina University. She received her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001.
