DOOM is a first-person shooter computer game, developed by id Software and first released for the PC on December 10, 1993, later ported to various platforms and followed by two sequels and numerous expansions. DOOM was remarkable for its, by the standards of 1993, realistic 3D graphics. An important evolutionary step from Wolfenstein 3D (id Software's previous game and the first major first-person shooter), DOOM became a genre-defining title.
