Text and content

• Per MOS:LINK#Interwiki links, inline interlanguage linking within an article's body text is discouraged to avoid reader confusion.
• Local interlanguage links are deprecated, this is handled by Wikidata (see Help:Interwiki_linking#Interlanguage_links)
• Per WP:NAMB, a hatnote is not preferable when the name of the article is not ambiguous.
• Per WP:INTDABLINK, intentional links to disambiguation pages should always include (disambiguation) to differentiate them from links that need to be disambiguated.
• Per WP:NCDAB #3, generic class is preferred to proper nouns in parenthetical disambiguation
• Unpipe link(s) per WP:NOTBROKEN
• Restore link(s) per WP:NOTBROKEN
• Do not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken, per WP:NOTBROKEN
• Correct WP:Overlinking of common words and places
• Only articles linked in a given navbox should transclude that navbox, per WP:BIDIRECTIONAL
• Dates are no longer linked by default, see MOS:UNLINKDATES
• Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)/Date autoformatting, dates without both day number & month should not be linked, like solitary months, years, month-year
• Avoid using smaller font sizes in elements that already use a smaller font size, such as infoboxes, navboxes and reference sections, per MOS:ACCESS#Text

Dead-url is deprecated

• Hi, deadurl and dead-url have been deprecated in cite web and its variants in favor of url-status, and a red citation error message now appears in citations which use the deprecated syntax. However, I notice that GreenC bot is still generating dead-url, which has contributed to the growth of the maintenance category . Are you able to update the bot accordingly? The particulars of the cite template update that applies here are listed at the maintenance category page (and also at Template:Cite_web#What's_new), but note that the "yes" or "no" values also need to be changed to "live", "dead", "unfit", or "usurped", as necessary. Thanks.
• Hi, |dead-url= and related parameters have recently been deprecated in favor of |url-status= (see Template:Citation#Deprecated), and using any of the old parameters places the article into a maintenance category for CS1 errors. Thanks.

Current

Unless otherwise noted, any unique parameters can obviously be accommodated by custom fields in Infobox character. I'm noting equivalent parameters with different names, but this is an easy conversion with AWB.There are some cases in which crufty parameters have previously been removed from infobox templates (like birth date or eye color), and for simplicity's sake I'm ignoring any related information leftover in the articles themselves.

Marie (Nancy Wheeler, 1981–1989)
A maid in the Carrington house, presumably second-in-command to Jeanette. She is often seen and referred to on-screen, but only credited twice in the third season under "Maid"; her name was given in dialogue.
Irene (Carol Ann Henry, 1983–1984)
L.B.'s new nanny, employed by Fallon.

• xt inline positive example text, in green, with serif font
• bxt same as xt but uses bold instead of serif font
• mxt same as xt but uses mono-spaced font (especially useful in source code)
• xt2 same as xt but for blocks of text
• inline negative example text, in red, with serif font
• same as but uses boldface
• same as but uses mono-spaced font
• same as but for blocks
• xtd inline deprecated (or uncertain, unavailable, lorem, etc.) example text, in grey
• bxtd same as xtd but uses boldface
• mxtd same as xtd but uses mono-spaced font
• xtn inline neutral example text, with no color change, when none of the above applies
• bxtn same as xtn but uses boldface; it still applies a CSS class, so it's not simply boldfacing
• mxtn same as xtn but uses mono-spaced font; this is a good template to use when the shaded box formatting of <code>...</code> might be undesirable, or the semantics of it incorrect in the context
• dc inline deprecated or deleted material; dc2 variant has strikethrough (both explicitly use the <del> element); can be used in mainspace (articles), and where necessary wrapped in <code>, <samp>, or <kbd>

Quotation

So I don't worry about inspiration, or anything like that. It's a matter of just sitting down and working ... later, coming back and reading what I have produced, I am unable to detect the difference between what came easily and when I had to sit down and say, "Well, now it's writing time and now I'll write." There's no difference on paper between the two.

Migration from familytree

The chart template is largely compatible with the earlier familytree template. However, to use the additional functionality offered with this template, diagrams must be updated to use chart instead. Many familytree diagrams can be altered to use chart simply by replacing the wikitext familytree with chart. A few of the "mixed" tiles had to be renamed, and familytree diagrams using these tiles will have to make a few changes. Additionally, two new "mixed" tiles have been added, joining solid lines to dashed lines. The following table summarises the differences:

Lastly, if any uses of the familytree template end with |}}, that vertical bar should be removed, leaving the last cell in that row containing either some text or a space.

The familytree.js tool below can be used to convert between syntaxes. Just change the start tag when in edit view, then click "Art → Templates" to toggle back to wikitext view. The other templates will be updated to match.
