Need low-res shots of different variant covers of same issue, preferably including one of these nicer ones with metallic ink described in the article.

TV Guide

TV Guide had variant covers before Dawson's Creek. I very distinctly remember a set of variants for The Simpsons that, when combined, formed a larger picture. Ekchuah 07:46, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Also, they've sometimes done a special cover for areas where a major event is happening - I remember being in Kentucky for the Derby and being confused by the different cover. Gotta go find a source for that now... -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 15:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm looking too. I wrote that part a while back because I thought I remembered it being recognized as the first time, but it does need to be cited. Much of this article does, actually.--Chris Griswold 20:12, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Additions

I added a section for Avatar Press, fixed a tag, and added a break/new section for Outside of Comics. I don't know how to make the little 1/2 symbol, so I'd appreciate it if somebody could fix that for me. Ekchuah 11:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure how it's POV. Most of their comics ship with numerous variant covers. There's now a link to their August solicitations page, where Stargate Atlantis: Wraithfall and Lady Death: Blacklands are solicited. Each have the number of alternates stated. I could also add Aspen MLT for current regular uses of variant covers. Ekchuah 14:47, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
With 1/2 symbol, I guess you mean the format. It's fixed automatically, but you'd need to have the reference in the correct format. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 10:50, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

possible sources

Multiversity did a series on the history of variants, if anyone has the inclination to look through and see if there's anything worth adding to the article. [1] [2] [3] Argento Surfer (talk) 21:51, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
