Six brokers

The Hunt brothers were using about six brokers, not only Bache.

Losses

Their losses were more like billions of US dollars. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.4.21 (talk) 10:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC) They said that they bought at an average of $15 and they seem to have sold at about $6. They owned about 200,000,000Troy oz. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.4.21 (talk) 10:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

And how much silver did the US Assay Office sell after the peak price in 1980?Robert in Texas 04/07/2014 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.197.94.96 (talk) 19:30, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

108.197.94.96 should do his own research. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.98.54.217 (talk) 12:35, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

The exchange rules regarding leverage were changed

Can anyone say if the rules were changed as a result of the Hunts buying up silverand when exactly the rules changed, and what the change was ? Rod57 (talk) 12:26, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

The Comex silver futures market introduced a liquidation-only rule in the Jan. of 1980. The Chicago silver futures market had introduced a liquidation-only rule a few months earlier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 15:52, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Margin requirements were changed. Read this 98.118.62.140 (talk) 01:03, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Graph

A graph of the silver price would be interesting, especially if the timing and volume of Hunts purchases and sales could be indicated. Rod57 (talk) 12:29, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

A graph is easy to find. The details of purchases and sales are normally secret. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.181.35.246 (talk) 12:07, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Two graphs are now in the article. Obviously, there are still no details of the brothers' buying and selling. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.27.109.117 (talk) 16:40, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

"all time high"

I removed the "all-time" in this article because silver has been surpassed today at 49.72 ! WOOT !!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.93.120.239 (talk) 06:26, 25 April 2011 (UTC) The price given in the article, $48.70, was only one of many traded in the Jan. of 1980. I think that there was a trade in Chicago at $52.45 in the Jan. of 1980. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.27.109.117 (talk) 17:07, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Obviously, compensation for inflation would produce a different picture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.27.109.117 (talk) 14:14, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
