Phthalic anhydride from phthalic acid by heating and dehydration - procedure in lab
Hi, unfortunately I can't provide literature or anything, but for small amounts of (very pure) phthalic anhydride, we use phthalic acid and heat it to > 180°C in the lab. The Anhydride can be sublimated through a filter and will crystallise in fine, clear needles (almost like glass woll) on a cold surface. Purity is very good (>=99%).If anybody would add to the article, it could be a nice additional information for chemists. --147.161.165.102 (talk) 08:09, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
