Blind from birth?

Hi. Nowhere can I find any supported references to her being born blind. She learned piano 'by ear' merely because she had not yet formally learnt to read music - not because she was already blind. Most articles and obituaries refer to her failing health in later years, which may be the reason her blindness is often mentioned towards the end of such articles and obituaries. So, "blind at birth" appears to be an assumption, based on the fact that she learnt 'by ear'. While I am adding a supported source for her true birth name of Londa Lee Moore, I am removing the highly dubious assertion that she was born blind. I would expect there to be a clear statement from a trusted source to prove this once and for all if the assertion were to be re-introduced to her article here.
