External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Navigant Consulting. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20090719230353/http://www.cleanskies.org:80/printpage.aspx?page_id=%7B55b3b34e-e7aa-442c-95b9-634112cb0542%7D to http://www.cleanskies.org/printpage.aspx?page_id=%7B55B3B34E-E7AA-442C-95B9-634112CB0542%7D

COI edit requests
Hi! Navigant has hired me to request some updates to this article. I don't think the proposals below will fully address the maintenance templates currently in the article, but they should begin to help, and I intend to follow up with a second round of requests once I receive feedback on this first round.
Lead:
- Update revenue in infobox:
$1.03B
(December 31, 2017)[1] - Delete:
2016 revenues were $1.05 billion.
History:
- Condensing the "Mergers and acquisitions" section and adding a table of major acquisitions to sum up its history:
Acquisition date | Company | Business area | Price | Refs |
---|---|---|---|---|
August 17, 1997 | Resource Management International Inc. (RMI) | Engineering | $82,000,000 | [2] |
August 19, 1997 | Reed Consulting Group | Energy-related consulting | Undisclosed | [3] |
September 2, 1998 | Peterson Consulting | Information services | $160,000,000 | [4] |
September 24, 2002 | The Hunter Group | Health care consulting | $25,400,000 | [5] |
February 2, 2004 | Tucker Alan | Business and litigation consulting | $90,000,000 | [6] |
March 24, 2006 | Precept Programme Management Limited | Dispute advisory and program management consulting | $50,000,000 | [7][8] |
August 10, 2007 | HJA Consulting | Hydroelectric performance | Undisclosed | [9] |
January 12, 2009 | The Bard Group | Healthcare consulting | Undisclosed | [10] |
January 11, 2010 | Summit Blue Consulting | Utilities | Undisclosed | [11] |
May 17, 2010 | Daylight Forensic & Advisory | Financial consulting | $40,000,000 | [12] |
October 4, 2010 | Ethos Partners | Healthcare management consulting | $37,000,000 | [13] |
July 11, 2012 | Pike Research | Energy technology | Undisclosed | [14] |
October 3, 2012 | Easton Associates | Life sciences consulting | Undisclosed | [15] |
May 15, 2014 | Cymetrix Corp. | Healthcare revenue management | $100,000,000 | [16] |
February 24, 2015 | RevenueMed | Healthcare revenue management | Undisclosed | [17] |
January 4, 2016 | McKinnis Consulting Services | Healthcare revenue management | $52,000,000 | [18] |
January 4, 2016 | Dymedex Consulting | Life sciences | Undisclosed | [19] |
November 7, 2016 | Ecofys | Energy and sustainability | Undisclosed | [20] |
November 2, 2017 | Quorum Consulting | Life sciences | Undisclosed | [21] |
- I would recommend deleting everything from "Navigant took advantage of the collapse..." through to "...as the sell-side advisor to Easton." (so, the remainder of the section) as overly detailed, poorly sourced to primary sources and/or dead links, and redundant of the table above.
- Add to end of section:
In April 2018, the company partnered with Baptist Health South Florida to form a joint venture providing revenue cycle management to healthcare organizations.[22][23] In August of that same year, Navigant divested its disputes, forensics and legal technology segment and its transaction advisory services practice in a $470 million sale to Ankura Consulting Group.[24][25]
This may make sense as a new "Recent history" subsection.
Services:
- Update title of section to "Business segments".
- Replace introductory sentence ("Navigant sells four core services:"), which is no longer accurate, with "Navigant's offerings focus on three industry areas:"
- Move "Dispute and investigative" subsection to the end, rename to "Disputes, forensics, and legal technology" (the actual name of the business unit), and update the final sentence to be a complete sentence with secondary sources:
Navigant divested this unit to Ankura Consulting in August 2018.[24][25]
I also think it may make sense to add a parenthetical (former) after the subsection title here.
Remainder of article:
- I would recommend deleting the "Studies/research" section entirely. Its only sources are three primary sources, it's dated, and it only represents a small subsection of both Navigant's research and Navigant's work as a whole.
- Incorporate the "Criticism" section into the "History" section per WP:STRUCTURE.
- Update "Accolades" to "Recognition" for neutrality.
- Replace "Category: Economics consulting firms" with the more accurate "Category: Management consulting firms of the United States".

- The above edit request has not received any responses in the past 3 weeks (22 days in total).
- It was felt by this reviewer that any inadvertent changes made without the benefit of local editor's input may adversely affect the article. As a safeguard, the request has been declined as needing discussion.
- The COI editor is urged to revive any stalled communications first by making contact with local editor's through their own talk pages, then by moving the discussion to this talk page.
- The COI editor may also wish to broadcast requests for changes at the talk pages of the various WikiProjects which govern this article. Those projects are normally listed at the top of each article's talk page.
- Unless being assisted by another review editor, the COI editor is asked to allow for a reasonable amount of time to pass before reactivating any subsequent

- Thanks, Spintendo! The edit request template had actually only been in place for a week—after I'd attempted to garner interest via related WikiProjects—but I think it is still good for me to update my requests to reflect the current status of the article, so I've done so below. revised COI edit requests
Hi! As noted above, Navigant has hired me to request some updates to this article. I've updated my requests to reflect the current status of the article after some significant recent edits:
Lead:
- Update revenue in infobox:
$1.03B
(December 31, 2017)[1] - Delete:
2016 revenues were $1.05 billion.
- I believe the
{{third-party}}
and{{ad}}
flags have been superseded by recent edits and are no longer applicable.
History:
- Add to beginning of last paragraph of section:
In April 2018, the company partnered with Baptist Health South Florida to form a joint venture providing revenue cycle management to healthcare organizations.[2][3]
Remainder of article:
- Replace "Category: Economics consulting firms" with the more accurate "Category: Management consulting firms of the United States".
Due to my COI, I won't be editing directly. I appreciate any help or feedback! Mary Gaulke (talk) 05:02, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
- Edit #1 to the lead was made. Edit #2 to the lead was impossible as I cannot find any evidence of that claim in the current article. Edit #3 to the lead was partially done — I removed
{{third-party}}
but I am not quite confident that it'd be appropriate to remove{{ad}}
and would prefer that someone with more experience in either the subject area or in handling COI edit requests handle that particular request. The history and category edits were both made as requested. Garzfoth (talk) 19:56, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you kindly! Mary Gaulke (talk) 00:47, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
follow-up COI edit requests
Hi again. Now that some basic structural updates to this article have been made (thank you!), I'd like to request the addition of some contextual information, including restoring and cleaning up some deleted information.
- History
- Add after "From 1997 the company acquired a number of other companies.":
William M. Goodyear became chairman and CEO of the company in 2000.[1]
- Add to beginning of final paragraph:
Julie Howard replaced Goodyear as CEO in 2012.[2]
- Business segments
A new section (very loosely) adapted from deleted Services section, which had no external sources:
Business segments
Navigant focuses on three industry areas: financial services, healthcare, and energy.[3][4] Its clients include financial institutions, healthcare providers, utilities, and government agencies.[5]
- Reception
A few additions:
Number 16 on Forbes America’s 2018 list of Best Mid-Size Employers[6]
Perfect score, Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index 2018 for LGBTQ equality[7]
- Remainder of article
- What still needs to be done to get the
{{ad}}
flag removed from the article? I genuinely can't work out where any non-neutral language is remaining.
Again, due to my COI, I won't be editing directly. I so appreciate any help or feedback. Mary Gaulke (talk) 19:44, 6 February 2019 (UTC); request edit template added Mary Gaulke (talk) 17:06, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
Reply 10-FEB-2019
Edit request partially implemented
- The claims regarding Mr. Goodyear and Ms. Howard were added.
- The section on business interests was not added because it was not clear how Navigant "focuses" on these industry areas nor what it is that it provides to its clients.
- The claim regarding Forbes list of Best Mid-Size Employers was not added because that subject is not independently notable in Wikipedia.
- The claim regarding HRC's Corporate Equality Index was added because that subject is independently notable in Wikipedia.
- The claim regarding Fortune's Hot 100 for 2005 was omitted because the subject is not independently notable in Wikipedia.
- The following claims were omitted because (a) the information at the designated URL's did not confirm the claims and (b) the claims themselves were not independently notable in Wikipedia:
- Hot Growth Companies, Business Week, 2005
- 200 Best Small Companies, Forbes, 2006
- Best Place to Launch a Career, Business Week, 2007
- MCA Management Awards, Business Strategy Award, 2009
- 200 Best Small Companies, Forbes, November 2004
- The Advertising tone maintenance template was removed.
- A Citation needed inline template was removed.[a]

Notes
- Thanks, Spintendo! I've updated the business segments text below, calling out the key quote in the Crain's source and specifying that the company provides management consulting services. When you get a second, please let me know what you think. Mary Gaulke (talk) 20:14, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
Business segments
- @Spintendo: Hi! Pinging you in case you happened to miss my reply before. Thanks again for your time! Mary Gaulke (talk) 19:43, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
two COI edit requests
Hi! Back again with two COI edit requests to reflect Navigant's recent acquisition. All the edits are mocked up here, sans the logo since it's in userspace.
1. Adding fate
, defunct
and parent
parameters to infobox, with ref.
2. Updating tense throughout article lead.
That's it! I appreciate your help/feedback. Mary Gaulke (talk) 02:19, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- It's not clear from this "mock-up" what changes are to be made, because the directions, as such, have not been included. Nowhere on the page does it specify what is to be added and what is to be deleted. Regards, Spintendo 16:09, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- MaryGaulke, please just state in 100 words or fewer what factual changes you are suggesting, and then add the references that support those changes. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:39, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Spintendo and Justlettersandnumbers: No factual changes. The company has been acquired and while this has been added to the end of the lead, the rest of the article hasn't been updated to match. I'm requesting two edits:
- 1. Adding to infobox:
|fate = Acquired by Guidehouse
|defunct = October 2019[1]
|parent = Guidehouse
- 2. Updating tense in article lead (bolding added for emphasis):
Navigant Consulting, Inc. was an American management consultancy firm. It had offices in Asia, Europe and North America; the head office was in Chicago, Illinois. The stock was a component of the S&P 600 index. Navigant was acquired by Guidehouse in 2019.
- Incidentally, this does not appear to be the correct application of WP:MINDREADER, which is for situations where an editor is in the middle of updating an article and isn't transparent about their process. Mary Gaulke (talk) 17:47, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- You were in the process of making an edit request and you weren't transparent about what changes you wanted to be made, so much so that two separate editors both requested clarification on what changes you wanted — clarifications which you then provided here on the talk page. I think you'd agree that there is a certain inefficiency in placing an edit request of this particular size in two different locations as you originally did. Regards, Spintendo 17:39, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- MaryGaulke, please just state in 100 words or fewer what factual changes you are suggesting, and then add the references that support those changes. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:39, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
