Rank
I doubt there is any such thing as "the rank of chief constable of the Scotland Yard CID". Groomtech (talk) 22:16, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- Under his name in his book is the following credential: "Formerly Chief Constable, Criminal Investigation Division, New Scotland Yard" Verne Equinox (talk) 02:49, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- There used to be a rank of that name, and the person holding it was indeed the head of the CID; the position was eliminated in the mid-20th century. It's still the highest rank in many of the other police forces in the UK. Clevelander96 (talk) 17:17, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
See Chief constable#Metropolitan Police for a history of the rank in the Met. It wasn't the same thing as a chief constable elsewhere. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:31, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
