I don't think this meets WP:GNG at this point, but it's moot to nominate for AfD as it looks like they will be meeting for the 3rd straight Finals. A bit of WP:CRYSTAL perhaps, but let's see how this plays out.—Bagumba (talk) 17:28, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
@Bagumba: Looks like this is going to stay notable. I had previously taken it to AFD, but I few days later it looked a lot better so I non-admin speedy kept/withdrew the nomination. Right now, it looks better than when I closed it. I'm even considering declaring/requesting an Assessment upgrade. —Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs) 18:00, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
@Bagumba and Mr. Guye: Having only just discovered this article, I think a lot of the content is WP:OR and doesn't demonstrate a "rivalry", it just demonstrates that the teams have been good at the same time the past few seasons. I see there were no comments in the AfD that was withdrawn. I might start a new one. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:25, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
@Muboshgu: Most rivalry articles are poorly written; the key question is whether sources exist that demonstrate that this is notable. I'm sure you realize that even if it's not "notable", it'll be an uphill battle convincing !voters otherwise when they have met in the last 3 finals, and undoubtedly more recent coverage speculating about a 4th one.—Bagumba (talk) 02:11, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
Well, here we are a year and a half later and, well, the Cavs stink. The whole article strikes me as WP:RECENTISM, being created entirely based on one four-year period of history for two teams that have been around for decades. Long-term significance isn't really demonstrated, and it's pretty obvious that the "rivalry" was less about the teams and more about the Warriors vs LeBron. I don't think this really deserves an article. oknazevad (talk) 10:38, 18 March 2019 (UTC)PS, also, the fact that this article exists and there is no Warriors–Lakers article (a cross-state rivalry with five decades of history) or Warriors–Kings article (closest teams to each other with almost 40 years of that proximity) tells me everything about the recentism here. oknazevad (talk) 10:41, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
You would need to factor in WP:NOTTEMPORARY, and I'm guessing at least the last two years where it was frequently discussed as a rivalry. I'm skeptical on the other "rivalries"; geography alone does not make a rivalry. But if it can be shown to meet GNG, so be it.—Bagumba (talk)

This isn't much of a rivalry outside of four finals appearances, this page shouldn't exist Mr.Viking18 (talk) 00:18, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
