RIBA president

At the end of March 2020, Jones was reported to have temporarily stepped down as president of the RIBA citing issues in his private life, though there was subsequently reporting of a "serious incident" referral to the Charity Commission. There have been conflicting reports from reliable sources of why he stepped down and what the incident involves (some sources are firewalled so details are not always available); it is unclear if the CC referral is a statutory requirement if a senior figure steps back from governance, or if there has been any misconduct. Until things become clearer, I edited the article to briefly mention the claims made in these sources. An IP editor deleted some of the negative coverage, but I reverted the change to retain the reliable sources' assertions, and to maintain nPOV/balance. As this article is a BLP, I will be keeping an eye on the article and updating it if and when further information on this matter is published. Paul W (talk) 14:07, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Unexplained edit by IP user revert good faith edit for a second time. Paul W (talk) 14:13, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
User:BabyDory made identical reversion of my reinstated edit (suggests BabyDory could be the IP user). I have left a note for BabyDory on their User Talk page and asked if further edits might be discussed via this Talk page. Paul W (talk) 17:14, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Disclosure: On 20 July 2021, I was contacted by Alan Jones (my first contact with him), and subsequently (afternoon of 21 July 2021) had a telephone conversation with him. As I and this article had been mentioned in RIBA conversations, he asked about how it had developed, being unfamiliar with the workings of Wikipedia. I said that I, and other Wikipedians, had edited this BLP as part of voluntary commitment to Wikipedia, following its guidelines about using reliable, independent sources (newspapers, trade journals, etc) while having due regard to maintaining a neutral point of view, avoiding conflicts of interest, and taking a balanced view of published sources, while also avoiding 'recentism'. I explained that assertions contained in any further news coverage, if significant, might be added to the article (accordingly, I have since been editing the article to refer to a report in this week's Architects' Journal). Mr Jones thanked me for the explanation, understanding (I think) that the article's accuracy is dependent upon what editors glean from published sources. Paul W (talk) 12:48, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
