"Had the Phillies won Game 6 and then Game 7, the World Series MVP award would have reverted to the Phils' Len Dykstra, primarily so that Bobby Richardson of the 1960 New York Yankees would remain, and still is, the only World Series MVP from a losing team."

There is no guarantee of this, and even if it had happened that wouldn't be the primary reason. I'm going to take it out unless someone can prove it. Priester 23:18, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Opening section sucks

Way too much irrelevant trivia info in the first part of the article. No one cares about Andersen or Daulton, or that it was the xth world series where x happened. 142.165.247.221 (talk) 01:53, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Unclear Statement

"Three new World Series records were set, including the longest game (4:14), most total runs scored in a single game (29), and most runs scored by a losing team (14). Also, Charlie Williams became the first African American to serve as the home plate umpire for a World Series game.

Two death threats directed towards Williams were phoned into Veterans Stadium as soon as it became evident that Williams was going to be the losing pitcher of Game 4. Williams was not aware of the death threats until after Game 5."

Which Williams are we talking about here? Mitch Williams the losing pitcher, most likely, but, since he was JUST talked about, Charlie Williams?

Definitely needs continued work, but I assess that this has progressed well beyond the Start stage. HalifaxRage (talk) 16:22, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
