Save a Queen

"Save a Queen" is the fifth episode of the fourteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race.[1][2] It originally aired on February 4, 2022. Ava Max is a guest judge, and former contestants Jaymes Mansfield, Kahmora Hall, and Tempest DuJour also make guest appearances.

Bosco wins the episode's main challenge, and Orion Story is eliminated from the competition after placing in the bottom two and losing a lip-sync against Jorgeous to Max's "My Head & My Heart".

Episode

Ava Max (pictured in 2023) is a guest judge.

At the beginning of the episode, it is revealed that Kornbread "The Snack" Jeté has been removed from the competition due to an ankle injury she sustained last episode.

For the main challenge, the contestants team up and write a commercial to get donations for "Save a Queen", a charity that raises awareness for first-eliminated contestants.

Orion Story is eliminated from the competition

Ava Max is a guest judge. The runway category is "Spring Has Sprung". Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Bosco, and Lady Camden receive positive critiques, and Bosco wins the challenge. Jasmine Kennedie, Jorgeous, and Orion Story receive negative critiques, and Jasmine Kennedie is deemed safe. Jorgeous and Orion Story place in the bottom and face off in a lip-sync to "My Head & My Heart (2020) by Ava Max. Jorgeous wins the lip-sync. Orion Story then opens her chocolate bar to reveal a plain chocolate bar and is eliminated from the competition.

Production

Contestants Alyssa Hunter and June Jambalaya shared on social media what they would have worn for the episode had they remained in the competition.[3]

Reception

Trae DeLellis of The A.V. Club gave the episode a rating of 'B-'.[4]
