Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II (born Daniel Mensah, 27 May 1966) is a Ghanaian traditional ruler who is the Omanhene (or paramount chief) of the Dormaa traditional area (Dormaaman) in Ghana. A grand durbar of chief, dignitaries, parliamentarians, government functionaries, ministers of state, Bonohene of Ivory coast - Nana Agyeman Adinkrah II and distinguished citizens of Dormaa were present to outdoor Osagyefo, July 25, 1999. He is the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.[1][2][3]

Biography

Early life

Born on May 27, 1966, he was given the name Daniel Mensah. He ascended to the throne at the age of 33, following the passing of his uncle, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu I.[4]Osaagyefo Oseadeayo has done well for himself in academia, he attained his first degree from the university of Ghana, continued his post-graduate studies in Ghana and broad. Osaagyefo now holds a doctorate in law unlike those with honorary doctorates.The sources of his postgraduate degrees are, however, questionable ,since he has not been able to publicly disclose where he completed his postgraduate studies.

The A-B-C-D States

The chiefs and queen mothers from the four Dormaa divisions of Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality, Bomaa in the Tano South Municipality of Ahafo Region, Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality and Dormaa-Ahenkro form the Dormaa-State under Osagyefo Osedeayo stool.

Palace

Abanpredease (Dormaahene's Palace) is the royal palace of the Omanhene of Dormaa-man. It is located in Dormaa Ahenkro, in the Bono Region of Ghana. The name Abanpredease is also otherwise ascribed to the kingdom's royal family as well.[5]There are over 200 plus towns in Bono, Ahafo and other regions that serve Abanpredease as of 2024. Interesting fact: Abranpredease is arguably the biggest palace in west africa, and it has a zoo.

Duties

As a High Court judge, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo presides over legal matters in a Fast Track High Court in Greater Accra region. Thus, he is believed to have a better understanding of human rights issues and the need to uphold them. He is the current head of the judicial committee at the National House of chiefs and oversees all their legal matters.

Interesting Facts

The paramount chief of Akwamufie "Odeneho" in the eastern region happens to be the twin brother of the paramount chief Dormaa state "Oseadeayo Stool". The uncle to both stools is the famous and astute great chief Nana Ansah Sasraku I of Akwamu (Suceeded by Nana Addo Panin and Nana Basua). Dormaa like Akwamu had a well organised army led by Osaagyefo which made them a force to reckon with. [6] Osaagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Nana Freduah Agyeman Badu is the "ADUANA PIESIE just like Techimanhene is the Oyokoe Piesie. There is a whole lot of controversies surrounding who the true Aduana piesie is, but authentic history can never be diluted as to who holds this title, Dormaahene who occupies on the "OSEADEAYO STOOL" is the sole owner of the "ADUANA PIESIE" title.He has been involved in a number of scandals unbecoming of a paramount chief.One of them is his publicly drinking hard liquor on camera and getting it posted on social media.This drew a lot of criticism from experts on royal protocol.
