Edson is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sherman County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population was 17.[2] Edson is located near Interstate 70, 9 miles (14 km) east of Goodland.

History

Edson was named for settler Ed Harris, and his son.[3] The first post office in Edson was established in 1888.[4] The ZIP code is 67733.[5]

Edson was a station and shipping point on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.[6]

There were 12 housing units at an average density of 17.0 per square mile (6.6/km2).[9][10] The racial makeup was 100.0% (17) white or European American (100.0% non-Hispanic white), 0.0% (0) black or African-American, 0.0% (0) Native American or Alaska Native, 0.0% (0) Asian, 0.0% (0) Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian, 0.0% (0) from other races, and 0.0% (0) from two or more races.[11] Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.0% (0) of the population.[12]

The community is served by Goodland USD 352 public school district.[15]

Edson schools were closed through school unification. The Edson Rockets[16] won the Kansas State High School boys class BB Track & Field championship in 1965.[17]
