David Saladzortsi (Vorbik, Armenian: Որբիկ, Orphan) an Armenian poet and priest of 17th century. The dates of birth and death are unknown. He was born in Saladzor village of Karin province of Greater Armenia. This is where the name of "Saladzortsi" came from. Vorbik was his nickname. David Saladzortsi is famous for his poem (tagh) "Praise to Flowers", which is a hymn to the awakening of nature.[1] Saladzortsi's poems are classified to the lyrical lament genre, which was originated in the beginning of the 17th century.[2][3] Truthfully reflecting historical events, they simultaneously reveal the inner world of the author, his patriotic and personal experiences regarding the fate and future of the people.[4]
