“Advertising is prohibited as an official Wikipedia policy of long standing.”[1]
What purpose does this category (Summer camps) serve to the WP community? Isn't this just a collection of advertisements? Will students seeking a "summer camp" use this as a resource? Probably. Is that WP's purpose? The policy clearly states "Wikipedia is not a directory". Most of these camps are not notable in an encyclopedic sense.
I think this is something that needs to be discussed — either the policy should be changed or else the very existence of this category (and the articles in it) should be reconsidered.

- Any article which is nothing more than an advertisement should of course be deleted. You seem to be implying that this is true for all summer camps. Maybe so. But that should be taken up on pages such as WP:CSD, that deal with the articles themselves. Assuming the articles should exist, it is perfectly natural that the topic of summer camps should have its own category (so various summer camps could be compared, for example). --Eliyak T·C 05:49, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
