Recent changes by User:Mitch Ames removed Category: Australian male television actors as a supercategory of Category: Australian male soap opera actors in many actor BLPs. For actors only in soap operas that makes sense. But it doesn't really for actors with significant television roles beyond soap operas, e.g. Benedict Samuel, Guy Pearce, Bud Tingwell, Ryan Kwanten, Alex Dimitriades, etc. Same for many female actors. For those, should Category: Australian male television actors have been removed? Boneymau (talk) 13:57, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
WP:SUBCAT is clear and unambiguous: "an article should be categorised as low down in the category hierarchy as possible, without duplication in parent categories above it. In other words, a page or category should rarely be placed in both a category and a subcategory or parent category .."
