D'esta planta aisllóse l'alcaloide quindolidina.^[1]

Justicia betonica describióse por Carlos Linneo y espublizóse en Species Plantarum 1: 15. 1753.^[2]

Etimoloxía

Justicia: nome xenéricu dau n'honor de James Justice (1730-1763), hortalaneru escocés.^[3]
